In ChatGPT, open ChatGPT Plugins, add a custom MCP server named Obi GEO with the public endpoint https://geo.obijuan.dev/mcp, choose OAuth sign-in, and create it as a plugin. Whether you can add custom MCP servers depends on your ChatGPT plan and, at work, your workspace settings.
Steps
- Open ChatGPT Plugins. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
- Add a server. Select + and then Add custom MCP server.
- Name and description. Name: Obi GEO. Description: “Checks how AI assistants see my website and drafts fixes I approve.”
- Connection. Choose Public endpoint and enter
https://geo.obijuan.dev/mcp. - Authentication. Choose OAuth, read the risk notice and select I understand and want to continue.
- Create it. Select Create as a plugin and review the tools ChatGPT found.
- Sign in to Obi GEO. When ChatGPT asks, enter your email and the 6-digit code we send, then approve the consent page. Your first sign-in creates a free account.
At work
On business workspaces an admin may need to allow custom MCP servers before members can add one. If you don’t see the option, ask your ChatGPT admin.
First thing to ask
Inspect https://yoursite.com and tell me what stops AI assistants from reading or recommending it.
If something goes wrong
- The server won’t connect: check that the address ends in
/mcpand starts withhttps://. - “Code expired”: codes last 10 minutes and must be used in the browser that asked for them. Ask for a new one.
- Tools look out of date after an update: open the connection in ChatGPT Plugins, select Refresh and start a new chat.
